Father Fred’s Spring Garage Sale Raises Thousands of Dollars

The cloudy weather didn’t stop some from spring shopping for a good cause. Saturday hundreds came out to shop Father Fred’s annual spring sale in Traverse City.

The garage sale has been happening for nearly 25 years.

It has everything from clothes to costumes and house hold items, and all of it was donated by the community,

Volunteers tells us 93 cents for every dollar earned goes straight back      into helping people in need in the five county region it covers.

This year they estimate they raised $22,000.

While volunteers say they are down quite a bit in sales from the event, they      are extremely grateful for all the support.

“This community is tremendously supportive of this. Despite how many people showed up at our garage sale, we still made a lot of money. Of course we would always like more money, but we figure god gives us what we need and so we’ll take it,” volunteer coordinator Sue Bauer said.
