Petoskey Uncorked Event Celebrates Launch of Petoskey Wine Region

More than 200 area businesses came together in Bay Harbor Wednesday for Petoskey Uncorked, an event to toast the launch of the Petoskey Wine Region.

The Petoskey Wine Region is the new name for the 12 wineries once known as the Bay View Wine Trail.

All 12 wineries helped launch the new name Wednesday with a wine tasting event and ambassador training.

The Petoskey Wine Region also launched its new mobile tourist app Wednesday.

Members of the Petoskey Wine Region say they want the wine from the Petoskey region to stand out.

“Today we’re introducing the new wine region to all the areas so they really become familiar with our products and who we are. By coming to be an ambassador, they’re also going to be listed on our mobile app. We consider this area to be distinctively different. We’re all planting different varietals than some of the California varietals that most people are familiar with,” explained Andy Roush, owner of Petoskey Farms Vineyard and Winery.

The event in Bay Harbor is open to the public and continues until 8 p.m.
