New Florida Flight Added to Cherry Capital Airport’s Schedule

Elite Airways began a weekly non-stop flight between Traverse City and Sarasota, Florida back in March.

Thursday they added a second flight to the list!

It’s a sign of growing demand for travelers both going to and coming from Northern Michigan.

Bonnie Pintozzi with The Travel Authority says, “It just opens up the world a little differently. That really makes the flights affordable, that also makes them available to us.”

Passengers in and out of Cherry Capital Airport can see a whole new world – and TVC is where it all begins.

The latest example is the expansion of Elite Airways once-weekly flights to Sarasota, Florida.

Airport Director Kevin Klein says, “They’ll be flying twice a week. So they’ll be going both on Thursdays and on Saturdays.”

Sarasota is the newest on the list of cities – a list that’s been growing steadily for several years.

“Dallas Ft. Worth not too many years ago, this year – new – they add Charlotte, LaGuardia and Chicago service. Washington-Dulles. Service to Newark. And also to Denver and Chicago. Minneapolis St. Paul, Detroit, Atlanta, and New York LaGuardia.”

In all, that makes 11 cities.

Pintozzi says, “It has a two-fold affect. The affect is one for us that live up here, so when we’re traveling. And two, to bring in the people that want to see Traverse City.” Klein adds, “We always think, tend to think as people that live here in northern Michigan, that everybody comes to see us in the summer. But everybody forgets it’s our chance to go there. And so, don’t forget to take that opportunity.”

It’s not just the Traverse City residents fly from here – Cherry Capital has a wide reach.

Pintozzi says they cover a wide geographical area with their client base. “We get a lot of requests for travel from people in Petoskey, Charlevoix, and of course we have a Gaylord office. And they don’t want to have to drive all the way down to even Grand Rapids or Detroit or you know, fly out of Lansing.”

Cherry Capital sends passengers to major hub cities, making for an easy connection from larger markets to anywhere in the world.
