Debt Collectors Could Soon Send Unlimited Texts, Emails to Consumers

Debt collectors could soon be able to send unlimited emails and texts to consumers under new rules proposed by the Trump administration.

The new policy would also allow consumers to be contacted though private messaging on social media, including Facebook and Twitter.

It would also limit the number of phone calls debt collectors make to consumers to seven times a week.

There would, however, be a way for consumers to opt out of email and texts, and specify times of day that work best for phone calls.
