Charlevoix Girl Scout Makes Big Difference with Mini Libraries

Making a difference in your community doesn’t have to be hard.

It can be a big or small gesture, like building a mini library.

Alexandria Snabes is now a freshman in college who recently accepted the Gold Award for her completion of her Take Action project.

She built and stocked three mini libraries in high foot traffic areas in Charlevoix.

You can see these mini libraries at the Depot Beach, Michigan Beach and Ferry Beach Parks.

Snabes says, “I just wanted to promote literacy in the community and I chose the beaches specifically to make sure it’s accessible to locals and visitors.”

Now all summer long these libraries will be accessible to everyone in the community, promoting literacy and giving back to the community she has called home for many years.

“I think it’s really cool to see the impact one can make on a community and I love hearing feedback and people being so grateful for it,” Snabes says.

If you want to visit one of these libraries yourself, visit the Depot Beach, Michigan Beach or Ferry Beach Parks.
