President Trump Pardons Former Soldier Convicted of Murdering Iraqi Detainee

President Trump has granted a full pardon to a former US soldier who killed an Iraqi detainee.

Michael Behenna was sentenced to 25 years behind bars for unpremeditated murder after shooting a detainee.

Behenna claimed self-defense, but military prosecutors said the shooting was revenge for a 2008 roadside bombing where two US soldiers died.

White house press secretary Sarah Sanders says there were numerous issues with the case.

She also said Behenna was a model prisoner while incarcerated.
