San Francisco Sues Trump Over Conscience Rights

San Francisco is suing the Trump administration over new regulations that allow health care professionals to opt out of providing treatments they oppose.

The lawsuit was filed hours after the president announced the new regulations.

The regulations require institutions that get money from federal programs to prove they comply with federal laws protecting conscience and religious rights.

The lawsuit argues the regulation prioritizes religious beliefs over patient care and undermines access to birth control, abortions and HIV treatments.
