Traverse City Fire Department Installing Smoke Detectors in Local Homes For Free

Northern Michigan first responders want to make your home safer this weekend for free.

The Traverse City Fire Department received a grant including 400 new fire detectors and 72 new carbon monoxide alarms.

This weekend they will be visiting homes in Traverse City to install the alarms.

The alarms and installation will cost nothing to the homeowner if the current ones are not functioning or older than 9 years old.

Installation is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday.

You can call the fire department to schedule an appointment.
