Kalkaska Area Interfaith Resources Helping Families Displaced By Apartment Fire
“Come and see us. We’re ready to help you.”
Kalkaska Area Interfaith Resources is putting out the call to help those displaced by an apartment fire over the weekend.
Sixteen families lost their homes to a fire at Kalkaska Woods Apartments Saturday morning.
Now KAIR wants to help them get back on their feet.
The nonprofit has vouchers available for clothing and household items to help replace what these families lost in the fire.
They also have a food pantry available to those who need groceries.
Above all, they want people to know they’re not alone.
“We just want them to know that we care and that we’ll keep them in our prayers. And anything that they need if they can come in and talk to us we’ll do what we can to help them,” Cathy Somes, director of KAIR said.
The American Red Cross and some local churches are also working to help those displaced by the fire.
