Clare County Sheriff’s Office Upgrades Body Cameras

The Clare County Sheriff’s Office just upgraded body cameras for all of their deputies.

The department has used body cameras for the last several years but says it was time for a change.

These new cameras record higher quality video and audio.

Everything deputies record during the day is automatically uploaded to a cloud and the end of their shift, making it easier to access if needed.

“Not only does it protect the officers and their integrity, it is video evidence, it goes to court, it is what it is, it can’t be tampered with, it’s plugged in, it’s uploaded, it’s the original copy that comes from the camera,” said Clare County Sheriff John Wilson.

The sheriff says he hopes they won’t run into technical issues they had with their old cameras.

The department also won’t have to continue buying bigger servers to store body cam video.
