Hometown Tourist: Peppercorn in Traverse City

Do you like to try new food trends? Or hesitant to try some because of not having the right gear?

Well, did you know there’s a kitchen store right in downtown Traverse City with just about every gadget you could possibly need for the kitchen?

For this week’s Hometown Tourist, David Lyden and Erin Malone visit on Front Street in Traverse City to see what they’ve got for you to whip up in the kitchen.

The kitchen is often called the heart of the home, and at Peppercorn in Traverse City they try and cook that feeling up every day

“The kitchen is the heart of the home and it’s also a really creative outlet,” said Sandy Vandyke. “We have amazing gadgets, a lot of fun things that allow you to maybe try something you’ve never tried before.”

When you visit, you’ll find Sandy and quickly realize you’re in good hands to find anything you need. She puts a lot of heart into whatever you’re looking for, from finding the latest cool gadget to a simple time or food saver like what Sandy says is huge right now, an avocado keeper.

“That’s an example of things we have that are just problem-solvers, basically,” explained Sandy. “Because the food trends are pretty specific, having the right tools to be able to accomplish those is a huge benefit.”

At Peppercorn they also know the local community products spice things up in the perfect way, from soaps, spices and grains to of course, cherry products.

So whether you’re looking for blates (a mixture of bowls and plates), a cool down with Moomers Ice Cream or simply a fun apron or themed spatula, you’ll find all the ingredients for your perfect kitchen recipe at Peppercorn.
