Catholic Charities West Michigan Sues State Over LGBT Policy
A Roman Catholic social services organization has filed a lawsuit to stop the state of Michigan from penalizing them if they won’t adopt children to same-sex couples.
Catholic Charities West Michigan says their religious rights would be violated if they’re forced to place children with same-sex couples.
The group says services will be threatened by a recent change at the Department of Health and Human Services.
The department can now terminate contracts with faith-based groups if they discriminate against LGBTQ individuals.
Catholic Charities says the department has blindly followed the instructions of Attorney General Dana Nessel.
