Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan: Creating the Perfect Match

We join Kyle and Leo on one of their outings to Lucky Jack's in Traverse City

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan offers countless opportunities for community involvement – giving both the “Big” and “Little” a reason to smile.

Kyle Brownley and Leo are one of the perfect matches made through Bigs Up North and go on several outings over the course of the month. They enjoy spending their time at Lucky Jack’s in Traverse City bowling and going to the arcade!

“Leo is so energetic and his smile brightens up the room – something you see firsthand. He just really likes to have a good time and is a really nice person,” says Brownley.

These two friends don’t have to go far to find the fun but it’s more than that. Kyle is a companion, confidant and caring adult for Leo to lean on. “I like the fact that we get to have fun together and we get to laugh a lot,” says Leo.

It’s not just what Kyle is doing for Leo… It’s what Leo has given Kyle in return. “Everybody’s initial pull toward the program tends to be what they can do for the little but after even after a short time they have a positive influence and effect on your life as well,” says Brownley.

“If you can carve out a couple hours a week which almost everyone can do – it’ll make a big difference,” says Brownley.
