Man Accused of Murdering Wife 40 Years Ago Pleads Not Guilty

A man pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife more than 40 years ago.

Richard Pierce was living in Northern Michigan when police arrested him last fall.

He’s now in Wisconsin, going to trial.

Pierce is accused of killing his wife Carol Jean.

She went missing about four decades ago, around the same time Pierce moved from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin to Cheboygan, Michigan.

We told you about his arrest in October.

This is video of the search at this home.

Investigators searched his Cheboygan home for weeks, completely tearing it down.

They did not end up finding the remains of Carol Jean.

Even so, he is charged with first-degree murder in Door County, Wisconsin and will to go trial.
