Part of the joy of living in a small town is that you can make a difference and actually see how it impacts your community.

There’s a new opportunity this spring in Cadillac to create a brighter, more beautiful environment for locals and visitors.

John Wallace, with the city of Cadillac, says there are multiple ways people can sponsor beautification.

“Our main program of course is our flower basket program on Mitchell Street, but we also place flower baskets throughout the plaza.”

Sponsors of each planter will be recognized by having their name or business name include on a small sign, which will be inserted in the planter they have sponsored.

For as low as $90, people can contribute to the flower baskets hung on Mitchell Street and the Plaza.

The curb planter on Mitchell Street in front of the Cadillac Lofts project is $1,200.

And next to Fifth Third Bank, $1,200 will sponsor a brick planter on the side walk.

Two downtown gateway planters can be sponsored for $1,750 together. There are eight total, four on the north side and four to the south.

And four Harris Street planters need sponsors for $2,000, or $500 per planter.

Six round flower pots on the plaza will be sponsored for $2,000. Or $1,000 for a set of three.

And also on the plaza, four square cedar planters will be sponsored for $2,000 or $1,000 for a set of two.

But the largest and most showcased is the fountain at the Cadillac City Park. That needs a sponsorship total of $4,000.

If you wish to sponsor one of the City of Cadillac’s downtown planters please contact John Wallace at 231-775-0181  extension 101.
