Bay View Association in Petoskey Being Sued Again for Religious Requirements
A Petoskey area resort community is being sued again because of a new membership policy involving religion.
Last time we told you about Bay View Association they were being sued for requiring cottage owners to be of ‘Christian persuasion.’
They ended up getting rid of that rule last year.
A lawsuit filed last week says there is a new policy requiring applicants to “respect the principles of the United Methodist Church.”
And that membership applicants support “Christian values and traditions” of the Bay View Association.
The lawsuit claims that’s illegal because Christian beliefs are put above others, and that Bay View must follow the U.S. Constitution because it has some government powers under state law.
