Cheboygan Carnegie Renovations Continue with Help from the Community

“We got this old building and we are going to teach it new tricks.”

An ongoing effort to revamp a historic Cheboygan building just got a boost from a local company.

Presque Isle Electric and Gas Co-op awarded $2500 to assist in the ongoing building stabilization project at the Cheboygan Carnegie building.

The old building which was purchased back in 2016 has undergone some major renovations since.

Owner Mary Hebert has been raising funds to transform the old library.

Since it’s reopening, they’ve held concerts and hosted art galleries bringing thousands of visitors.

“Hebert’s true goal is to transform it into a space for the whole community.

It’s educational, cultural, with business incubation, with high emphasis on the young people and the next generation, especially young families. We have high hopes for the future.
