Michigan Congress Approves June 1 Deadline for Unlicensed Medical Marijuana Shops

A bill in Lansing would stop unlicensed medical marijuana shops from becoming licensed for a full year if they stay open after June 1.

The house approved the bill today.

State regulators let many provisioning centers re-open temporarily through March without risking their future license.

Last month, a judge blocked enforcement of the March 31 deadline.

The new bill’s sponsor wants to clear up information on when the unregulated medical marijuana provisioning centers must become regulated.

Thursday the bill setting a June 1 deadline for provisioning centers to close without penalty overwhelmingly passed the state house. It now goes to Governor Whitmer’s desk.
