MTM On The Road: Feed it Forward in Pickford

Each year, Pickford Public Schools participate in a program called Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. Students have to put together a project that makes a difference in the community.

One project became a nonprofit business called Feed it Forward where people can pay it forward by giving a free meal.

Jacqueline Brace and Aspyn Cottle are 8th grade students who started Feed it Forward to service all of the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

The business is a community service project that was started to support the Sault Ste Marie Salvation Army and help with the high demand of feeding people in the area.

The restaurants will have tickets that a customer can buy to help someone in need. The ticket will stay at the restaurant so that a person that needs a meal can redeem it for “free”, no questions asked.

Feed it Forward is in nine restaurants, two in Sault Ste Marie, three in Pickford, three in Cedarville, and one in Goetzville. The business is endorsed by Sault Ste Marie Salvation Army and the United Way.

The two girls went to the state competition in Midland with their nonprofit business and qualified for nationals in Anaheim, California in June.
