Man Shot During Fight in Kalkaska County

A fight between two men in Kalkaska County led to one of them being shot in the chest.

The sheriff’s office says it started Saturday night when an ex-boyfriend showed up to a home in Rapid City where his ex-girlfriend was staying at wanting to talk.

He left, and came back around 3:30 Sunday morning.

The sheriff’s office says the homeowner opened the door and told the man to leave while holding a rifle.

That’s when the sheriff’s office says the man forced his way inside the home and a fight started over the gun.

During the fight, the homeowner brought out a pistol and shot the ex-boyfriend in the chest.

He is now recovering from that gunshot wound.

The home owner was questioned and released.

Right now the home invasion suspect has not been charged.
