Running for Cancer Patients, The Wheatlake Festival of Races

As the snow and ice melt, this is your chance to lace up your shoes for some spring running.

And if you’re someone who needs extra motivation, all the proceeds for the Wheatlake Festival of Races in Big Rapids goes to help cancer patients at the Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center.

From the kid’s dash, to a 5k run or walk, a half marathon and 10k, there’s distances all runners can work towards.

Runner Chrystal Roggow says everyone has been touched by cancer, whether it’s themselves or someone they know.

“It’s just something that means a lot to me,” she says.

Runners will be pounding the pavement on May 18.
