Kalkaska Public Schools Superintendent Placed on Paid Leave

We have an update on the Kalkaska Public Schools superintendent charged with making a false report.

Terrence Starr is now placed on paid administrative leave.

Thursday he was charged with slander, reporting a false report of a felony and false report of child abuse.

Back in January of 2018, state police say Elk Rapids administrators began receiving letters accusing an employee there of child abuse.

It even led to the filing of a suspected child abuse or neglect report with the Department of Health and Human Services.

State police say Starr wrote those letters and the allegations were unfounded.

At the time he was the Elk Rapids Middle School principal.

He has since taken over as the leader of Kalkaska schools but will now be on paid administrative leave pending the investigation..

Starr will be in court later this month.
