A local county road commission is being praised for success in building bridges.
The Emmet County Road Commission recently took home the “Impress” and “People’s Choice” awards at the County Road Association’s Statewide Highway Conference.
Emmet County was recognized for their ability to find different funding partners without relying on state money.
Their “Merging River Care and Asset Management” application highlighted how it helped them get several projects done at a much quicker rate.
“It felt really good because there are 83 other counties in the state. There was eight presentations and they voted ours the best, so it made us feel really good that we are doing something special up here,” Emmet County Road Commission Manager Brian Gutowski, said.
Gutowski says they want to continue to show how other funding sources are there for the taking, and have even given tips to other local road commissions on how to do that.
