Changes Continue for the Department of Homeland Security

The shake-up in President Trump’s national security team continues with more people calling it quits just one day after Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said she will step down.

The changes are part of the White House’s hardline push on immigration.

US Secret Service Director Randolph “Tex” Alles is the latest to split with the Trump administration.

A senior administration official says at least three other Homeland Security officials are also leaving.

Presidential advisor Stephen Miller is the one spearheading the massive overhaul of the DHS.

It comes as the number of migrants at the southern border continues to surge.

Customs and Border Protection commissioner Kevin Mcaleenan will take over as acting DHS secretary.

In addition to him, energy secretary Rick Perry and former acting attorney general Matt Whitaker could be in the running to replace Nielsen.
