Attention bookworms it is National Library Week!

To celebrate, one Northern Michigan library is willing to let something slide for those who give back.

This week the Petoskey District Library will waive any overdue fines or late fees in exchange for canned goods.

So if you held on to a book or movie for too long, you can bring in some canned goods and get those fees wiped off your record, no questions asked.

“This is a long-standing tradition. We’ve done this for over ten years during National Library Week. It’s just a good opportunity to connect with our community and allow patrons to cancel any fines, start fresh and still give back to the community by making a food donation,” Public Services Librarian Jodi Haven, said.

The food is going to a local food pantry.
