Excitement in Cadillac Friday as Cadillac Area Public Schools broke ground on some much needed improvements.

CAPS broke ground today at two of their elementary schools on additions that will add classrooms and a cafeteria.

This all comes from a $65.5 million bond voters passed last May.

Students, teachers and community members were there for the celebration.

Chief Financial Officer Emily Kearney says CAPS held the event as a thank you to the community.

“Better opportunities for our students better classrooms, different areas for them to grow because they’re getting additional services with new construction, so this will be great for the students,” she says.

The superintendent hopes to have all the improvements completed in the next five to six years.
