Former Kingsley Principal Accused of Sex Crimes Expected in Court

The former Kingsley middle school principal accused of sexual assault is expected to be in court Friday.

Friday will be the final hearing before Karl Hartman goes to trial.

That will likely happen next month or in June.

Hartman faces six charges including first-degree sex crimes and a possible life sentence.

Some of the alleged incidents happened more than 30 years ago, including one when he was a first grade teacher.

Court documents say he asked a student to pull down his pants, spanked him and then touched him inappropriately.

Northern Michigan’s News Leader will have a crew in the courtroom and have the latest on 9&10 News at 5&6.
