Future of Elk Rapids Teacher to be Decided at School Board Meeting

An Elk Rapids School teacher under investigation for inappropriate conduct with a former student could be planning his resignation.

The teacher, who we are choosing not to identify until a state police investigation is complete, was put on paid leave last month.

The superintendent sent a letter home to parents announcing the unnamed employee was being replaced with a substitute teacher during the investigation.

State police say they were looking into allegations the man had an inappropriate relationship with a former student.

The superintendent says the district has been in discussion with the teacher about his resignation, but he hasn’t resigned.

The superintendent expects it to be addressed at the next school board meeting.

The case remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
