A major road construction project picks up Wednesday in Isabella and Clare counties.

US 10 will be closed from U.S.127 to the U.S.10 business route east of Clare.

MDOT is investing $29.9 million to resurface the freeway.

That full closure will last through May.

Traffic will be detoured along the U.S.10 business route through downtown Clare.

Both directions will be open but still under construction after May.

“We’ve learned that April and May are soft months for us so we’re hoping this going to be a shot in the arm for us. Yeah it’s going to help us out and help all the businesses. And if we can get that extra little boost we know we’re going to have a busy summer,” says Greg Rynearson, owner of Cops & Doughnuts.

The entire project won’t be completed until November.
