President Trump Considering Shutting Down Southern Border This Week

The White House is doubling down on President Trump’s threat to shut down the southern border.

The president is now saying he could close it down this week if Mexico can’t help stop the flow of migrant crossings.

The Department of Homeland Security says migrant holding facilities in the US are beyond capacity.

DHS secretary Kirstjen Neilsen describes the number of undocumented immigrants in their custody as ‘unmanageable.’

Right now, about 6,6000  families, including nearly 5,000 children, are being held.

The DHS is now asking its employees to volunteer to work at the US-Mexico border to help with the influx of migrants coming in.

They’re asking for volunteers to help with transportation, food distribution and medical needs.
