Three Traverse City First Responders Receive Life Saving Awards

“It was really good to be honored and be part of that,” said Lt. Eric Jackson with the Traverse City Fire Department.

The heroic actions of Jackson, along with Officer Reed Shea and Officer Taylor Comiskey from the Traverse City Police Department, earned them lifesaving awards from the National Police Hall of Fame.

These three helped save a family sleeping while their home was on fire back in November on Cochlin Street.

Jackson says it was great to be able to work together to get everyone to safety.

“We started going room by room, knocking on doors. We started finding people sleeping in beds and we ended up finding a family of five total. We were able to get them out OK,” said Jackson.

He says they continue to work together every day to keep the community safe.
