Man Sentenced to Prison for Raping 12-Year-Old Girl

The man convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl for years is heading to prison.

Byron Bird will spend 74 years in prison for sexually abusing a girl on the Isabella reservation from 2016 to 2018.

Bird threatened to take away the girl’s horse and cell phone if she told anyone.

The victim’s mother learned about the abuse after her daughter became pregnant.

It turned out to be a molar pregnancy, where pregnancy tissue, not a fetus, grows in the womb.

That tissue was removed.

Bird was convicted in Ontario in 2007 for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl.

The complaint shows he lived on the Isabella reservation but was still supposed to register as a sex offender.

He did not.
