Amazing creations from folklore and fables are being brought to life by a local artist.

Julie Kradel, from Cedar, proves some of the best creative inspiration come from what’s closest to our hearts.

For Julie, that’s her farm, children’s fables and nursery rhymes.

“My family was always very creative and encouraged creativity, so I’ve been doing this like a number of artists since I was a small child,” she says. “I love Aesop’s Fables, I love folklore, I love nursery rhymes.”

The intimate artistry of clay sculptures is her current specialty.

But Julie also considers herself in the business of storytelling.

“I’m trying to tell each piece for them is their own story,” she says.

Julie Kradel’s work can be found at the in Traverse City.
