49 Killed in New Zealand Terror Attack of 2 Mosques

New York City’s One World Trade Center’s spire was aglow in blue and red Friday night—the colors of the New Zealand flag.

It’s a show of sympathy for the 49 victims shot and killed in two mosque attacks.

The main suspect is Brenton Tarrant. He made his first appearance in court today.

Police say they have three suspects in custody.

Mosques were packed for prayer when the shooter opened fire.

They streamed the carnage live on Facebook.

Tarrant had posted an immigrant-hating manifesto on social media.

In it, he described himself as a fascist.

He said Muslim immigrants were “invading” Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

New Zealand’s prime minister said some of the victims were likely refugees and called it one of New Zealand’s darkest days.

Tarrant was not offered bail. He’ll be back in court April 5.
