Sault Ste. Marie Program Helps Offer People With Mental Illness Hope, Opportunities

Mental illness includes a wide range of conditions that affects mood, thinking and behavior.

The “Water’s Edge Clubhouse” in Sault Ste. Marie is a recovery-based community program that offers people with mental illness hope and opportunities to achieve their full potential.

Thursday the clubhouse had its open house to showcase its services.

The clubhouse director says their programs can change lives.

“They are able to feel valued and important, while staying out of hospitals and saving their own lives. We have several people here that have said that the clubhouse has helped me become a better person and in some cases, saved our lives. That’s very powerful to hear that,” said clubhouse director Scott Nason.

Currently there are 13 members in the clubhouse.
