Woman Attacked by Jaguar at Arizona Zoo

A woman is recovering after she was attacked by a jaguar at an Arizona Zoo.

People at the zoo say they saw her crossing over a barrier to take a selfie in the jaguar enclosure before the animal launched toward her.

The Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park says the jaguar attacked her arm.

It let go after a witness distracted it with a bottle.

Cell phone video showed the woman writhing and shrieking in pain after the attack, with a large gash on her arm.

She was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK.

Zoo officials say the same jaguar hurt another park visitor one year ago, when that person crossed the barrier also.

According to statements from the zoo, the jaguar will not be euthanized because of this most recent attack.
