Taste the Local Difference Connects Michigan Communities With Local Food
There is nothing we love more than having and celebrating local food on the four.
And a Northern Michigan company wants to make sure everyone gets to experience the benefits of eating and buying local food.
The company started in Northern Michigan, but have since grown to serve the entire state.
The mission of Taste the Local Difference is simple: To educate consumers about the value of local food, and support food and farming entrepreneurs in building successful, well-connected, and thoughtful businesses.
Every year, they produce a local food guide to help people find restaurants and businesses that sell local food. Their new guide will be released this May.

Creste Di Gallo with Italian sausage, feta and greens
- 4 oz. fresh Creste Di Gallo pasta
- 3 oz. Italian sausage
- 2 cups spinach
- 2 Tbs. Extra virgin olive oil
- 1 oz. feta cheese
Bring large pot of water to a boil, add salt until it tastes like the sea. In a saute pan, sear your sausage in olive oil for a couple of minutes until brown and cooked through. Meanwhile, cook your pasta in boiling salted water for 1.5-2 minutes. Add your cooked pasta plus a tiny bit of cooking liquid to your pan with the sausages. Add your spinach, toss until wilted. Add your feta cheese and toss a bit more, season to taste with salt and pepper, put in bowl and eat!
