Emmet County Officials Investigating After Finding 2 Dead Bodies in Home

Investigators tell us their deaths are considered suspicious

Emmet County officials are investigating after finding two bodies in Bear Creek township.

The department responded to a call around 1 p.m. Friday about two dead bodies inside a home on Sterly road.

The bodies belonged to a 64 year old man and 56 year old woman, who had a relationship together. Friends of the couple found them after they made plans to go grocery shopping and they did not answer the door.

Michigan State Police crime lab investigators and Emmet county deputies were on scene and tell us that the circumstances of their death are considered suspicious, but the public is safe.

Neighbors tell 9&10 that they were shocked by everything going on, and even more surprised by questions from law enforcement.

“They asked me if I heard any gunshots, and I had to say no, sitting in this house… I don’t even know who comes and goes,” said a neighbor on Sterly road who wished to remain anonymous.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Department says the public is not in danger and this was an isolated incident.
