Traverse City’s 20Fathom Selected for Rural Innovation Initiative

“Really what we’re trying to do is create a pipeline of talent that is prepared for the workforce of the future,” said Andy Cole, executive director of 20Fathoms.

A Traverse City tech hub and start up incubator is closer to its goal of receiving a $1.5 million grant.

20Fathoms was selected by the Center on Rural Innovation and Rural Innovation Strategies for the Rural Innovation Initiative.

130 organizations applied and 20Fathoms was one of nine selected.

This will help in the grant writing process for an I6 challenge from the U.S. Economic Development Administration.

The goal is to raise $750,000 and they will then match it.

The challenge is meant to create jobs and grow local economies.

“It would bolster our ability to support the entrepreneurs that are here, to attract more talented entrepreneurs into the area and continue to grow and further our efforts in growing the community of tech and entrepreneurship in the community,” said Cole.

20Fathoms has raised $330,000 so far.
