Sault Ste. Marie Downtown Parking is Now Free Wherever Meters are Buried

Downtown Sault Ste. Marie is buried in snow, but believe it or not, it may not be a bad thing for drivers.

As street crews work tirelessly to clear the excess snow some parking meters downtown remained buried.

As long as that’s the case drivers will get free parking downtown, wherever meters are covered.

The Downtown Development Authority says they don’t want anyone climbing snow banks just to put in some quarters.

“We thought you know what it would be much nicer for us to make sure folks that are coming downtown don’t feel like they have to climb up a snowbank. So until the snow banks are cleared we want to be able to offer complimentary parking,” DDA Director Justin Knepper, said.

The DDA says they expect it will be at least week until they are all cleared.
