Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation Donates $25,000 to Child and Family Services of Northwestern Michigan

A Traverse City nonprofit is getting a big boost from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation.

Wednesday, they donated $25000 to the Child and Family Services of Northwestern Michigan.

It’s all part of an initiative to help community nonprofits with new programs.

Child and Family Services offers adoption, counseling, foster care and therapy services.

Their executive director says 25 grand will go a long way.

“The general cost of a trauma assessment is close to $2000, for one unit of behavioral health or counseling, it’s between $50 to $100 depending on what’s being done, so $25000 will go a long way,” said executive director Gina Aranki.

Child and Family Services helps hundreds of kids a year and thousands more through their 24-7 crisis hotline.
