Sixth Graders Surprise Reed City Teachers With Award

The sixth grade team of teachers at Reed City Middle School have won the Team of the Year Award.

While the award was presented by the Michigan Association of Middle School Educators, the students were the ones who broke the news.

The teachers had no idea the sixth graders were awaiting them at lunch to present the award.

One of the sixth grade teachers, Tara Price said, “Sixth grade is probably one of the most challenging times to teach. It’s a good transitional time to kids, and we are really trying to make that a priority to work with them. So today seeing them excited for us when normally we’re the ones getting excited for them, they were really feeling that for us today and it was pretty cool.”

The teachers said the ability to be flexible has been most important in the classroom.
