National Veteran Girls Rock Day

Veterans Day is still nine months away. But that’s no reason to skip out on thanking a service member.

Today is ‘National Vet Girls Rock Day’, a day to celebrate women military vets.

There are nearly two-million women who have served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps.

Even during the Civil War, more than 400 women fought by disguising themselves as men.

Females were officially permitted to join the military during the last two years of World War I.

Women began receiving veteran’s benefits in 1948, when Congress passed the Armed Integration Act.

But it wasn’t until 2016 that the US opened all military positions, including combat ones, to women.

Thank you to all of our veteran woman, and to those currently serving.
