Tim and Heidi Swajanen own 40 acres of land in the Upper Peninsula and only a field separates them from one Northern Michigan’s finest treasures.

“From our doorway to the ice caves is 1.3 miles,” says Tim Swajanen, who is referring to the Eben Ice Caves located in Eben Junction, between Munising and Marquette. He has lived on the property for 50 years and never gets sick of visiting the ever-changing caves.

The Swajanen’s love being able to share their love of nature with those who come near and far to see Mother Nature’s winter masterpiece.

“I like it that there are still people out there who really appreciate and love nature and being outside and doing things rather than just clicking on the phone or ipad – whatever they have. They can see it first-hand and just enjoy what is actually around them,” says Tim Swajanen.

This hidden gem turns even sweeter when people encounter poor cell service. “It’s so worth it once you look up from that screen. You can’t even copy that in a photo,” says Heidi Swajanen.
