Patterson’s Flowers Prepares for Busy Week Delivering in Winter Weather

“Run, run, run,” said Mike Bell, a delivery driver for Patterson’s Flowers of Cadillac.

Bell’s been busy preparing for Valentine’s Day.

“It’s no different than any other day, it’s just our volumes a lot higher just given that it’s Valentine’s Day, which is probably the biggest day of the year,” said Bell.

But delivering won’t be all that easy this year due to the winter weather.

When asked what it’ll take for him to say the roads are too rough to deliver, he said, “probably when I get stuck,”

Still, he’s committed to spreading the love despite the rough roads.

“All you can do is one delivery at a time. It probably adds a little bit to the day, but we just want to be safe and get them out there,” said Bell. “At this point we’re hoping the weather settles down and give the plows a chance to get out there.”

Around 200 arrangements are expected to be sent out from Patterson’s this week.

“We have a lot already for Thursday. A lot of people do the day before, so we have a lot going out tomorrow too,” said Kodee Agema, a sales associate at Patterson’s.

Patterson’s says they will have six drivers out on Valentine’s Day and have a plan in the case that the weather’s too bad.

“We try to push deliveries if the weather’s bad for the next day because hopefully it will be better tomorrow,” said Agema.

As of now, Patterson’s says they’ve never had to delay Valentine’s deliveries and they don’t expect this year to be any different,” said Agema.

The best thing you can do is order early.

Agema says ordering late limits your options.

“It’s going to be a little harder to get exactly what you’re looking for,” said Agema.
