Mackinac Bridge Closed to All Vehicles; Low Visibility Major Concern for Drivers

UPDATE: The Mackinac Bridge is currently CLOSED to all vehicles due to the weather conditions.

The Mackinac Bridge is under a high wind warning and is calling for an escort of high-profile vehicles.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority is asking drivers to reduce their speed to a maximum of 20 M.P.H. at this time, turn on their four-way flashers and utilize the outside lane.

Vehicles such as pickup trucks, campers, motor homes, vehicles with trailers and semi-truck trailers are especially vulnerable to the winds.

But that is not the only concern for drivers.

The low visibility on the bridge is a major issue for drivers getting across.

The wind gusts and snow coming down are making it hard to see short distances driving.

The storm is just beginning and more snow will continue to hit the area through the night and into Wednesday morning.

We will continue to follow the storm and how the conditions can affect your travel for the day.
