Endangered Missing Advisory Led Police to Find Missing Sisters on Mackinac Island

The two sisters that went missing were found safe on Mackinac Island just after midnight on Tuesday.

The father, Joel Ypma, went to drop the two girls off at school on Monday morning in Byron Center, MI but family became concerned when they did not hear from him.

Michigan State Police issued an endangered missing advisory when they heard the sister’s father was dealing with a sort of mental episode.

The Mackinac Island Police Department became aware of the missing children through a tip and were able to track them down staying on Mackinac Island.

The only way to and from the island was by airplane and it was confirmed they flew in earlier that day.

Police are working to get the family back to Kent County.
