Traverse City Man Pleas No Contest to Murder of Three-Week-Old Girl
Thomas Weatherholt pleaded no contest in the August murder of Havona Hawsawi, his girlfriend’s daughter, on Friday Jan. 8.
Judge Thomas Power says the findings revealed Weatherholt slammed Wawsawi’s head against a hard surface.
That led to injuries which looked similar to those sustained in a high-speed car crash.
Investigators say the child died from severe head trauma and other injuries.
Weatherholt’s attorney says he pleaded no contest because he can’t remember what happened.
His blood-alcohol level was a .10 four hours after the incident.
Weatherholt will next be in court for his sentencing on March 8.
