John Dingell Dies At 92

Sad news to report tonight, the longest serving member of congress in U.S. history, and Michigan political icon John Dingell has died.

For 59 years, Dingell represented the Michigan district that stretches from Ann Arbor through much of the Detroit suburbs.

For much of that time, he was the top-ranking democrat on the house energy and commerce committee.

He retired in 2015.

His wife Debbie now holds that seat in congress.

Governor Whitmer issued a statement saying, “We are a stronger, safer, healthier nation because of congressman Dingell’s 59 years of service.”

John Dingell was 92.
