Evart Rescue Teams Search for Teen in Muskegon River

The Sheriff’s Office of Osceola County is looking for a 15-year-old child, one of three teens who fell through the ice on the Muskegon River.

Crews were called out just after 5 p.m. Thursday. The Sheriff’s Office says it happened at 50th Avenue Bridge just south of River Road in Sylvan Township.

They say three kids fell through the ice, but two were able to make it back to shore.

One teen is still unaccounted for.

The search is now considered a recovery effort.

Rescue crews suspended the search for the third Thursday night. Weather permitting, they will try again Friday morning.

The Michigan State Police Dive Team responded with Evart Fire and Rescue, Evart Police Department, Big Rapids Rescue, the Osceola County Sheriff Department and Osceola EMS.
